Our Studio

Our founding purpose is to create lasting beauty in design, with the hand-drawn line as the starting-point for every Fermoie pattern. That hand-drawn line can take its inspiration from nature, a colour, a shape, a place, a word, an artefact - in fact, whatever catches the designer’s eye and imagination. Browse our fabric and wallpaper collections and you will find designs inspired by everything from early English damasks and Indian block prints to sea-shells, pineapples and circus performers, and recalling places as far away as Fiji and New Zealand, and close to home as the ancient forest on our doorstep in Marlborough.

It is this direct, personal connection between the designer and their design that gives every Fermoie pattern its authenticity, intimacy, humanity and timelessness. And because every design is the embodiment of a sensation, memory, experience or moment of recognition, it’s possible to relate to it on many levels - or simply love and appreciate it for its artistry, uniqueness and joy.
